3 different baby bassinets
Babies & Kids,  For the mama

The best baby bassinet for you and baby

Oh baby! Let’s talk baby bassinets.

How do I love me some babies. There is something so magical about those first few months. The smells, the little fingers and toes, the tiny little cries….gah! I love it all!

When bringing home baby it’s important to have places to put that little nugget at times and a baby bassinet is key for naps and night time sleep. (I have an entire post on all things needed for baby here, but this one deserves it’s own focus.)

Sometimes you have to put the baby down…

I am a huge fan of baby wearing and skin to skin, but let’s face it, you need a shower once in a while and the ability to sleep. Enter the baby furniture land of baby bassinets! You may have your crib all ready to go, but what I have found is that I typically keep baby in my room for the first few months and then we transition to the crib in his or her own bedroom. I actually did not do this with baby #1, but as we continued to have more kiddos then I realized my sanity was better when baby was close at night. The benefit of the bassinet is that it is smaller and more compact than your crib so you can easily keep it in your bedroom next to your bed or move it to the living room during the day…etc…whatever your heart desires. It is just nice to have the little babe a tad closer to you for sleepy time especially.

Ok, let’s take a look at a the baby bassinets on the market today that make the most sense…….

1. the 4momsĀ® mamaRoo sleep™ bassinet

This is an amazing bassinet and actually the one that I am currently using for baby #5

So, the mamaRoo….this little guy is aesthetically pleasing, functional and exciting to use. It fits nicely in tight spaces, has a nice modern look, and it basically rocks and swooshes baby to sleep.

Here are my favorite features that it offers:

  • 5 unique motions – Car ride, Kangaroo, tree swing, rock-a-bye and wave
  • Built in sound machine to help soothe baby (and sometimes mama) to sleep. Sounds options are rain, ocean, fan and shhhhhh
  • Adjustable height! Um hello! Not everyone has the same height needs so I love that they thought of this. They give you 4.5 inches of flexibility
  • They also have a phone app and timer that is bluetooth enabled so you can operate from wherever you need

It is available on Amazon here and the price point is around $350!

2. The SNOO Smart Sleeper baby bassinet

Snoo bassinet

This is basically the Cadillac of baby bassinets…..oh my jelly is it pretty!! We actually had the Snoo for baby #4 and LOVED it!! We sold it thinking we were done before baby #5 surprised us. Ha! Such is life!

So, this little machine was created by the famous pediatrician Dr. Harvey Karp…he wrote the book Happiest Baby on the Block. The man knows his babies and how to get them to sleep. This amazing bubble of loveliness automatically detects when baby begins to be restless and it starts to rock baby back to sleep as well as play a womb like sound that is ever so helpful.

Features include:

  • Auto responsive to baby’s needs
  • They say that their method automatically sleep trains baby which makes the transition to the crib a whole lot easier
  • It comes with an app that allows you to control the speed and such, but also produces lovely sleep reports!
  • It offers a secured swaddle system that keeps baby from rolling over and offers a snug feeling of security while sleeping.
  • Finally…it is just so PRETTY! Gah! I love the wood trim, sleek legs and the mesh sides….so modern and nice looking!

The Snoo is amazing and comes with a price tag of around $1,300 on sale. Purchasing is a great option especially if you are having more than one kiddo and can get more use out of it. HOWEVER….they offer a rental option that is super affordable as well.

3. The HALO baby bassinet

This is a fabulous bassinet that is both functional and practical. The only reason that my husband and I never used the HALO is because our bed frame did not allow the feet of it to slide under the bed….therefore it was not able to be snug and close like we needed. I did have one in my home to test and I loved it, but I just couldn’t fit it in the space that I had so we had to move on.

Here is why this bassinet may be best for you ….

Favorite features:

  • A lowerable bedside wall that allows you to access baby really easily
  • The ability to bring baby right up next to you on the mattress
  • 360 degree swivel ability which helps when you are getting out of bed and need to move this little guy out of the way
  • A storage pocket for items you need
  • Breathable mesh that lets you see baby easily
  • The Premier and Luxe models have an added “soothing center” that allows you to play calming sounds, turn on a vibration option and gives you a little nightlight
  • The Luxe version is also detachable so you can move it about the home when needed

Available for purchase here. Ranging in price $99-$350.

Overall the winner for me is the 4moms. This little guy wins it for all of it’s features and it’s price point. Get it here and get ready for your baby to sleep like a dream!

Cheers friends and happy baby sleeps!
